How to get the Victorian Look

Kirri, our creative director is now the regular Wedding Ideas magazine design expert. Each month she gives tips on all kinds of stationery, calligraphy and general know how. The December issue features How to get the Victorian Look. Here is what she said:

This nostalgic theme creates a wedding that is elegant without being stuffy. Stationery in the Victorian era was typified by delicate engravings, drawn in black and then gently coloured in with watercolour. Roses and birds were very popular as decoration. Swirls and curls are perfect, so if you have a friend with a calligraphy pen, let them loose, the more ornate the better. When choosing a colour scheme start with your flowers. Think dusky pink roses and soft white peonies, then add hints of browns and muted greens.

You could browse antiques shops and flea markets to create a mismatched vintage style for your table centres. If you don't have the time to spare, hire bone china teacups and saucers to give the perfect Victorian style. Old glass tumblers or vases for your reception tables add to the casual sophistication. You could even find gifts for your wedding party if you stumble across a vintage cigarette case or a cameo broach!

It is really very important and of the mark all are asking for it on the wedding day. It depends on the make-up man who is gonna prepare her...
